Monovision Monovision helps correct presbyopia - the need for reading glasses which develops around the ages of 40-45. This is when individuals first need reading glasses or bifocals for close vision. To correct this, the dominant eye - the one used to focus a camera is corrected for distance vision and the non-dominant eye is corrected for near vision.
Monovision may not be suitable for every one, yet many patients are very satisfied with the results. There is a period of adjustment needed to become accustomed to the difference of how each eye is corrected. Often monovision is experienced first using contact lenses that simulate the correction that would most likely occur with refractive surgery for monovision.
