Icon LASIK's involvement with the USA Pro Cycling Challenge started fairly early in the planning process. We knew from Lance Armstrong's very first Tweets that this was going to be a world class event that we didn't want to miss out on. There simply are not that many international level events like this anywhere in North America let alone over the roads that many of us ride every weekend. When we saw all of the hard work that was going into the event from companies, mayors, and volunteers throughout Colorado; we knew that Icon (and Icon’s patients) had to be apart of this historic race.

Icon has so many athletes who are cyclists, runners, mountain bikers, nordic and alpine skiers, and even dirt bikers who are looking forward to having the world's best cyclist right here in Colorado. 2011 Stage 6 was Incredible! Thanks Golden and Denver

Spectators were lined up 10 deep in downtown Golden. The only way to describe it was crazy! Then going up Lookout Mountain it was similar to some of the great climbs in France. They did not show it on the TV coverage but it was phenomenal, just screaming crazy people dressed like they just got out of the mental ward! After cruising back down 40 and through Golden the route went through Lakewood, Wheat Ridge, and near the Highlands area where the crowds were 3-4 deep in many spots. It was just solid people all the way through.

2011 Stage 6 Presented by ICON LASIK

It has been a phenomenal event all the way through Breckenridge. The racing has been close, the crowds energized, even the weather has held out. Stage 6 Presented by ICON LASIK is going to be even better. Medalist Sports has laid out an incredible stage. Stage 6 will likely see the Lookout Mountain record fall that was set by Tom Danielson a few years ago.

The riders will start in Golden and do a loop north of town. They will come back and start the climb up Lookout. There will be some massive attacks here. Look for the teams with GC contenders to take it to Radio Shack (or at least try too). It is a long way from the top of Lookout to the finish, and the climb is pretty short, nevertheless, this is going to be the last chance for someone to get away and make up enough time to shake up the overall standings.
